The Old Fux Podcast

Meet The Old Fux

Five guys. No filter. Bad advice optional.

We’re not a lifestyle brand. We’re not influencers. We’re just five guys in our 50s who got tired of polished, sanitized content that doesn’t sound like any conversation we’ve ever had.

So we started a show. We sit around, drink bourbon, smoke cigars, and talk about the stuff men actually talk about: scotch, bourbon, cigars, golf clubs, boats, grills, watches, gear, and life. No scripts. No sponsors telling us what to say. Just real talk from guys who’ve been around long enough to have opinions worth hearing (and some that probably aren’t).

The Crew

BM

Big Mike

The Host

Big Mike is the guy who keeps things moving. Barely. He’s the bourbon guy — knows every distillery, every mash bill, and has opinions about water sources that nobody asked for. He’s also the guy who knows everyone, which is how this whole thing started. When he’s not recording, he’s probably at a bourbon tasting or explaining to someone why their ice is wrong.

Signature Move: “Let me tell you about this bourbon…” (proceeds to tell you for 20 minutes)

D

Dave

The Bourbon/Scotch Snob

Dave has opinions. Strong opinions. Especially about ice. And water. And glassware. And barrel char levels. If you’re drinking bourbon “wrong,” Dave will tell you. If you’re drinking it “right,” Dave will still probably tell you there’s a better way. He’s got a collection that would make a distillery jealous and a palate that can detect notes most of us didn’t know existed. We keep him around because he’s usually right. Don’t tell him we said that.

Signature Move: “Actually…” followed by a 10-minute dissertation on why you’re wrong

T

Tommy

The Cigar Guy

Tommy’s humidor is bigger than most people’s closets. Seriously. He’s got cigars in there from countries you’ve never heard of. Recently divorced (the humidor was NOT the issue, allegedly), Tommy brings the cigar expertise and a certain… let’s call it “life experience” to the table. He’s the guy who can pair a cigar with anything — bourbon, scotch, a bad day, a good day, Tuesday. If it burns, Tommy knows about it.

Signature Move: Pulling out a cigar you’ve never heard of and saying “Trust me on this one”

S

Sal

The Golf Nut

Sal’s handicap is “none of your business,” but his equipment budget definitely is everybody’s business. He owns more polo shirts than a Lacoste factory and has strong opinions about whether your $500 driver is actually going to fix your slice (spoiler: it won’t). Sal’s the guy who will spend three hours talking about a single round of golf and make it sound like the most important thing that ever happened. He’s also the guy who will absolutely judge your golf shoes.

Signature Move: “You know what your problem is?” (proceeds to diagnose your entire golf game)

V

Vinny

The Boat Guy

Vinny will find a way to talk about boats. Always. We could be discussing bourbon, cigars, the meaning of life, and Vinny will somehow bring it back to boats. “You know what pairs great with that bourbon? Being on a boat.” He’s not wrong, but he’s also not subtle. Vinny’s got strong opinions about everything nautical and will absolutely judge you if you call it a “ship” when it’s clearly a “boat.” Or vice versa. We’re still not clear on the rules.

Signature Move: “You know what would make this better? If we were on a boat.”

What We’re About

We’re not here to sell you a lifestyle. We’re not here to tell you what to buy (okay, maybe a little). We’re here to have the conversations that actually happen when guys get together — the real ones, not the polished-for-Instagram ones.

We review bourbon and scotch. We smoke cigars and tell you which ones are worth your money. We talk about golf gear, boats, grills, watches, and all the stuff that makes life a little more enjoyable. And yeah, we talk about life too — the stuff you learn after 50+ years of making mistakes.

If you’re looking for perfectly curated content, you’re in the wrong place. If you want real talk from guys who’ve been around the block, pull up a chair.
